Import and processing of soybean DAS-44406-6

In 2013, COGEM published its advice on import and processing of genetically modified soybean DAS-44406-6. COGEM concluded that import and processing of DAS-44406-6 poses a negligible risk to the Dutch environment.
The submitted General Surveillance plan was considered adequate for import and processing of DAS-44406-6 soybean, but COGEM noted that some of the hyperlinks in the provided plan were not functional.
Recently, European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published its overall and scientific opinions on import and processing of DAS-44406-6 soybean. The Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment asked COGEM whether EFSA sufficiently answered COGEM’s comments on the application for import and processing of DAS-44406-6.
COGEM notes that the non-functional hyperlinks were not replaced in the General Surveillance plan attached to the EFSA opinion, but trusts that they will be updated in the near future.
COGEM remains of the opinion that DAS-44406-6 soybean poses a negligible risk to the environment and considers the provided General Surveillance plan adequate for import and processing of DAS-44406-6 soybean.
