Advice on the import and processing of GM soybean DAS-44406-6 x FG72

Advisory reports | 04.11.2025 | CGM/251104-01

COGEM was asked to advise on the potential environmental risks of import and processing of genetically modified (GM) soybean DAS-44406-6 x FG72. This GM soybean has been obtained through conventional crossing of the GM soybean parental lines DAS-44406-6 and FG72. In this hybrid line, genes are expressed that confer tolerance to various herbicides. COGEM has previously advised positively on the import and processing of both parental lines.
In the Netherlands feral soybean populations do not occur, nor are there any wild relatives present. The molecular characterisation meets the criteria of COGEM. There are no indications that the introduced traits allow GM soybean DAS-44406-6 x FG72 to survive in the Netherlands. In light of the above, COGEM is of the opinion that import and processing of GM soybean DAS-44406-6 x FG72 poses a negligible risk to the environment in the Netherlands.
