Advice on the renewal of import and processing of GM maize Bt11 x 59122 x MIR604 x 1507 x GA21

COGEM is asked to advise on the environmental risks of the renewal of the authorisation for import and processing of genetically modified (GM) maize Bt11 x 59122 x MIR604 x 1507 x GA21. This GM maize expresses the Cry1Ab, Cry34Ab1, Cry35Ab1, mCry3A and Cry1F genes which confers resistance against certain pests. Bt11 x 59122 x MIR604 x 1507 x GA21 also expresses themepspsand pat genes, which confers tolerance for glyfosate and glufosinate-ammonium containing herbicides. In addition, this GM maize contains the pmi gene which serves as a selectable marker.
