International Sympoium AI & Biotechnology

On November 5, 2026, COGEM will host an international symposium on the application of Artificial Intelligence in Biotechnology. The symposium will take place in Amsterdam. Speakers will address topics including large language models, AI applications for protein sequencing and proteomics, accelerating plant breeding, and generative AI. In addition, the symposium will address regulatory challenges and other issues involved in capitalizing on the opportunities that AI offers for biotechnology, while ensuring that biosafety and biosecurity are maintained and addressing potential ethical concerns. Confirmed speakers to date: Sanne Abeln (Utrecht University), Samuel Hyo-nam King (Stanford University), Maureen van Eijnatten (KeyGene), Konstantinos Kalogeropoulos (Technical University of Denmark), Ruth Mampuys (The Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy), Markus Schmidt (Biofaction), and Isis Hazewindus (Leiden University Medical Center).
