Research report ‘Update of the taxonomy of the fungal classifications lists of COGEM’

The taxonomy of fungi is constantly changing due to new scientific insights and technological advancements. During the previous update of the pathogenicity classification overviews by COGEM, it was determined that the taxonomy of some species on the lists was not up-to-date and contained inconsistencies. Therefore, COGEM commissioned a research project to review the nomenclature of both non-pathogenic and pathogenic fungi and to correct any inconsistencies. In the research report ‘Update of the taxonomy of the fungal classification lists of COGEM’ the species names on the fungal lists were checked for taxonomic inaccuracies using various (online) databases, expert consultation, and literature review. The report also provides guidelines for determining taxonomy, which may contribute to future classification requests for fungi.
