Advice on the renewal of import and processing of GM soybean MON 87705

COGEM has been asked to advise on the renewal of the market authorisation of GM soybean MON 87705. In this soybean line, the expression of the FAD2-1A and FATB1A genes has been inhibited, resulting in soybeans with an altered fatty acid composition. In addition, this line expresses the cp4 epsps gene, making the plant tolerant to herbicides containing glyphosate. Since the authorisation will expire soon, the applicant has requested a renewal of the authorisation. COGEM has been asked to advise on the environmental safety aspects of the renewed application.
